Production almost finished + Photos of Final copy + French Translation Complete
This week's update is exciting because...production has finished!... Almost!
We were trying to hold off on writing this one for a few more days so we could include some photos from the factory floor but that might have to wait until the next update.
⌛ Production Timeline
How almost finished are we? Production is set to fully wrap up this week, with boats being booked in around the 25th of January.
Are we going to make our Feb 2024 release date? Yes!...ish! For backers located in Asian regions, your games should ship before the end of February. For everyone else, the dates are still hazy...we may hit Feb or late March, depending on if we can squeeze Star Tycoon on a boat before Chinese New Year.
Fun fact - we've been 1 month short on all of our past campaign estimates. Hmm actually, that's not really that fun...

This is the copy of the game YOU will receive. No more samples, no more prototypes...this is what the game will look like (except for the miniature, which will be yellow in the shipped copy 😅).
🏆 Acrylic Tokens - the MVP of this Campaign
We haven't put enough spotlight on these tokens. That ends now!
These upgraded tokens look gorgeous. And they had better; they were flipping expensive!
During prototyping, we had the option of three different types of tokens, each with varying levels of expense:
2mm tokens moulded (printing wouldn't be as sharp, cheapest option)
2mm tokens laser cut (sharp edges)
2.5mm tokens, CNC cut (bevelled edges, most expensive)
When we handled all the prototypes, we knew we just had to go with the bevelled tokens. These are thick and feel amazing to hold. The printed colours just pop too (they look so tempting, you might want to eat them, but please don't...oh alright, just a tiny nibble!)
"Enough yabbering, show us pictures!" - you, probably.
These are thicker than the chipboard tokens and fit perfectly into the provided container.
Don't they look amazing!? We're confident that once you get your hands on them, you won't regret the upgrade.
We mentioned the expense before for a reason... this is one of those costly upgrades that can only be made possible with Kickstarter. In other words, these won’t be produced again (save for some miracle).
Due to the high production costs, we've only made just enough to cover the orders for this campaign, plus a few extras for replacements. If you didn’t add these to your order, you might not be able to get your hands on them in a few months.
Oh, one more thing about the tokens: each one has a little bit of protective plastic on each side. That means you're going to need to grab some friends, a movie, and sit there and peel off the plastic on all 194 tokens.
Star Tycoon comes with a second, bonus game called 'Plastic Film Suprise'.
