Game Piece Development

Just a quick follow-up post from my article on game pieces showing my three main ideas for Mothership.

My first idea was generic spaceship toys that were bought off eBay somewhere. They made the hexagon spaces on the board way too big and it was hard to tell the difference between ships at a glance.

The second idea, having printed pieces on a little card stand. These were made by The Game Crafter. Apart from being hard to see from some angles, they were kinda boring and not fun at all to look at.

The last one is the final product (well a prototype anyway) which is a fully custom-designed piece.
